Federal Initiatives Supplies Free Posters and Pamphlets to
Help Children of Alcohol or Other Drug Dependent
Parents (COAs)

Two federal agencies and NACoA have produced a series of posters and pamphlets designed to bring information and support to young and teenage COAs:

  • Posters produced by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy's National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign, telling COAs to find a trusting adult and that talking helps.
  • You Can Help-A Guide for Caring Adults Working with Young People Experiencing Addiction in the Family, developed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, suggests ways to support COAs.
  • It's Not Your Fault, NACoA's pamphlet advises COAs that they can take steps to make things better for themselves, and that there are people and programs to help.

These materials are available in quantities from the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information (1-800-729-6686). For each poster, NACoA suggests ordering a quantity of pamphlets.
