NACoA Announces New Course
Addiction and the Family: An Online Course for Faith Leaders

Washington, D.C. – The National Association for Children of Alcoholics (NACoA) announces a new online course, Addiction and the Family: An Online Course for Faith Leaders, which offers three (3) contact hours of education. This distance learning opportunity was developed to enhance faith leaders understanding of addiction and its impact on family members. In addition, it provides strategies that faith leaders can use to help individuals and families start on the road to recovery.

Sis Wenger, President and CEO of NACoA said: “We are pleased to launch this new course to enable faith leaders to work with their congregations and the community-at-large to help the children and adults affected by alcohol and drug dependence. Our goal is to provide accessible and affordable education for clergy and pastoral leaders so they can support the one in four children living in their communities who are confused and hurt by parental addiction.”

The course can be accessed at http://nacoa.macrovolt.com. To enroll in the course go to Register Now to complete the registration process. The registration fee for the three hour course is $35. A certificate can be printed out upon completion of the course. NACoA is an Approved Education Provider through NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals.

The online course provides half of the training/education requirements for the Certificate in Spiritual Caregiving to Help Addicted Persons and Families. This certificate program is a joint project of NACoA and NAADAC. The Certificate is available at a special introductory offer of $50 until December 31, 2007, after which it will become $90.

The National Association for Children of Alcoholics, located in Rockville, MD, is a national membership and affiliate organization whose mission is “to advocate for all children and families affected by alcoholism and drug dependencies.” It is an Internal Revenue Service Approved 501(c)3 non-profit corporation founded in 1983 and has been operational since that time.
